Danny Norrington Davies: Working with Emerging Language
In this workshop, Danny explored the different ways in which teachers work with emerging language during classes and outlined some tips and techniques for helping teachers develop their skills in this area.
A focus on form is an essential part of language classes, and this can be provided in response to emerging learner language generated during communicative stages. Based on data from observations and interviews with experienced and inexperienced teachers, this workshop looks at ways in which teachers respond to emerging language and explores the beliefs that underpin their choices and techniques. We then look at ways in which teachers can develop their ability to notice and respond to emergent language in their own classes.

If you’d like the chance to work with Danny as part of a smaller group of teachers, you can do so on our Dip TESOL course. Working with learner output and honing your practical classroom techniques of error correction and language upgrading are key areas we look at in the teaching practicum.
