Emma Meade-Flynn & Shaun Sweeney - Teaching Online: The Pedagogical Distance Puzzle

Co-Founders of Dublin TEFL, Dip TESOL & DELTA tutors Emma & Shaun host this DT Open, the final in our early spring series.

In this workshop, we will examine the idea of ‘pedagogical distance’ - the mis-match between pedagogy and mode that may occur when we transition to online teaching. At times, using our default tools and ‘tricks’ from the embodied, face-to-face classroom when in the online sphere can cause barriers to learning. In this session, we will specifically explore four of the trickier puzzles we face when teaching online: interaction, monitoring, flipping and motivation. There´ll be lots of time for questions, answers and peer-sharing too.

A recording of the event (minus the final group Q&A) is available here:

The slides for the talk are available here.

Emma and Shaun are co-directors and course tutors on our Dip TESOL courses.
